For those of you who might be visiting me from an iPhone or iPod Touch, you can now add a shortcut to your home screen with my logo! An awful lot of sites have now added these images (used just like the little favicons that appear in the address bar of your web browser) to their sites, such as Amazon, Google, Facebook, Meebo, etc.
If you have a site and want to make your own, it couldn’t be simpler! Just create a 57×57 pixel PNG image, call it “apple-touch-icon.png” (without the quotations, of course) and upload it to your root directory of your website. The iPhones and iPods will automatically locate it if the user adds your site to their home screen!
Here’s my 57x57px blue image:

I have one with a green background as well; I’m still debating between the two.
Apple’s devices automatically add the rounded corners and the glossy button-like effect to it, so once you upload that image, you’re done! Pretty awesome, huh?
On a different note, some of you might know already that as much as I love WordPress, I’m an even bigger fan of keeping and editing all my entries locally on my own computer instead of using a web interface. Call me old-fashioned, I guess! I’m trying out writing this blog entry on Mariner software’s new version of MacJournal. I’ve been using Ecto 3 (in beta) for the past few entries, but haven’t really settled on a blog editor yet. Any of you have any favorites?
